Product Description
Fiberglass yarn consists of a specified number of continuous E-Glass filaments gathered together to form a stable yarn structure. The filaments are manufactured with a controlled nominal diameter and protected by a sizing system designed to improve yarn integrity and downstream processing performance.
A controlled S- or Z-direction twist can be applied according to the required yarn construction and application. Both single yarn and plied yarn are available for weaving, braiding, serving, binding and other textile processing methods.
Our E-Glass fiberglass yarns are wound on hard paper or plastic bobbins and are generally supplied in a milk-bottle package shape. Selected specifications can also be supplied on warp beams according to the customer's processing requirements.
The E-Glass composition and yarn designation comply with the applicable requirements of ASTM D578/D578M, subject to specification confirmation.
Selected E-Glass fiberglass yarns can be used as reinforcement and textile processing materials in electrical wire and cable structures.
Depending on the cable design, processing method and required performance, fiberglass yarn may be used for:
- Electrical cable reinforcement
- Cable binding and serving
- Braided cable sleeves
- Fiberglass insulation sleeves
- Insulation tapes and woven electrical fabrics
- Wire and cable protective structures
- Reinforcement layers around cable components
- High-temperature cable textile structures
- Coated or resin-impregnated cable components
Fiberglass yarn provides low elongation, dimensional stability and electrical insulation characteristics. It can help maintain the stability of the cable structure and support subsequent braiding, weaving, coating or impregnation processes.
The appropriate yarn specification and sizing must be selected according to the cable construction, operating temperature, processing method, coating or resin system, bending requirements and applicable cable standards.
Other Applications
In addition to electrical cable applications, E-Glass fiberglass yarn can be used in:
- Electronic-grade fiberglass fabrics
- Electrical insulation fabrics
- Fiberglass tapes and sleeving
- Composite reinforcement fabrics
- Industrial textile products
- Coated fiberglass products
- Filtration fabrics
- Thermal insulation materials
- Reinforced plastic products
- Continuous alkali-free E-Glass filament construction
- Good electrical insulation properties
- Controlled filament diameter
- Consistent linear density
- Stable S- or Z-direction twist
- Good tensile performance
- Low elongation
- Good dimensional stability
- Consistent unwinding performance
- Suitable for twisting, braiding, weaving and serving
- Single and plied yarn constructions available
- Different sizing systems available
- Paper bobbin, plastic bobbin and warp-beam supply options

Available Yarn Constructions
Single Fiberglass Yarn
Single fiberglass yarn consists of continuous E-Glass filaments gathered and twisted into one yarn construction. It is suitable for applications requiring a relatively fine yarn, controlled twist and good textile processing performance.
Plied Fiberglass Yarn
Plied fiberglass yarn is manufactured by combining two or more single yarns. It provides a higher linear density and a more stable construction for selected braiding, weaving, binding, serving and reinforcement applications.

Understanding the Yarn Designation
A typical metric designation contains information about the glass composition, filament diameter, linear density, yarn construction and twist.
For example:
EC9 68 Z28
- E: E-Glass composition
- C: Continuous filament
- 9: Nominal filament diameter
- 68: Nominal linear density in tex
- Z: Twist direction
- 28: Twist designation
A plied-yarn designation also identifies the number of combined yarns and the final plying construction.
Because metric and English yarn designations use different systems, customers are encouraged to provide both designations or send an existing yarn sample for accurate matching.
Sizing Selection
Sizing protects the glass filaments during winding and downstream processing. It can also affect yarn handling, abrasion resistance, unwinding, impregnation and compatibility with coatings or resin systems.
Available sizing types include Y1, Y3, Y5, S508, R126 and other application-specific systems.
The correct sizing should be selected according to:
- Cable construction
- Braiding, weaving or serving process
- Processing speed
- Required abrasion resistance
- Coating material
- Resin or polymer system
- Required electrical performance
- Required thermal performance
- Final operating environment
Please provide the intended application before ordering. Our team will help confirm a suitable yarn construction and sizing type.
Mechanical Reinforcement
Fiberglass yarn can help reinforce cable structures and improve their dimensional stability. Its low elongation makes it suitable for applications where deformation needs to be controlled.
Electrical Insulation
E-Glass is electrically non-conductive and is widely used in electrical and electronic textile products. The final insulation performance depends on the complete cable structure, coating, impregnation system and operating conditions.
Thermal Stability
Fiberglass yarn retains its basic inorganic fiber structure at temperatures where many conventional organic textile fibers may soften or degrade. The permitted operating temperature of the finished cable must be determined according to the sizing, coating and complete cable design.
Stable Textile Processing
Controlled filament diameter, twist and sizing help provide stable unwinding and processing during braiding, weaving, twisting and serving.
Compatibility with Different Constructions
Single and plied fiberglass yarns are available in different tex counts and package formats for different cable manufacturing equipment and product structures.
How to Select the Right Fiberglass Yarn

Available supply formats include:
- 2K bobbins
- 4K bobbins
- 8K bobbins
- Paper bobbins
- Plastic bobbins
- Warp beams for selected products
The exact package dimensions, yarn length and net weight depend on the yarn specification and bobbin type.
Storage and Handling
Store fiberglass yarn in its original packaging in a dry, clean and well-ventilated indoor area.
Recommended handling precautions:
- Protect the yarn from moisture and contamination.
- Avoid direct exposure to rain and sunlight.
- Keep the packages away from heat sources.
- Do not stack packages beyond the recommended height.
- Prevent collision, compression and damage to the bobbins.
- Keep the original packaging sealed before use.
- Allow the sealed product to reach the workshop temperature before opening to reduce the risk of condensation.
- Handle the yarn carefully to avoid filament damage and unstable unwinding.
